Little Moments Lead To Big Moments

spill the beans

When I was growing up we lived in the country just outside of our small town. My parents live just down the street from my grandparents and I’d walk between the houses daily. I’d go down and visit my grandparents and my grandmother would make me chicken wings. My grandpa would stuff me with licorice and candy and I’d play in his shed where all of his treasures hung out. He was an antique dealer and auctioneer so there were many. I'd play with my grandparents dog Molly and picked blackberries from the garden.

I learned to ride my bike down the long dirt driveway that connected our house to theirs. Our house was surrounded by woods, I’d play in the grass, look for snakes and giggle every time I saw the fountain in our yard with a little-naked boy peeing water into the pond below.

I have such fond memories growing up there. I felt so free, felt like nothing could touch me or hurt me, it didn't even cross my mind. It's taken me awhile to get back here, to get to a place where I feel free again but each day I keep bringing in these little pleasures into my life.

I put delicious pleasures into my life to evoke the feelings I wanna feel.

Often times we forget the things that bring us joy, that light us up. Life is about the simple pleasures we forget to take time to allow them into our lives. Sure we may take a vacation once a year or maybe were forced to slow down when we get ill or hurt, but how often do we actually make it a priority to add the simple pleasures into life every single day?

It's a conscious choice. Just like I choose to prepare my food in a way that looks pretty and yes, I photograph it, I'm one of those girls. I do so with the intent of letting that photograph be a reminder of the simple things, a reminder to have gratitude for this beautiful thing called life and it’s my reminder that no matter what I’m going through that life is still beautiful. It's easy to forget sometimes, especially if our mindset is in those places of overwhelm, self-doubt, lack, and worry.

Taking pictures of all the amazing little things I find beautiful is my way of remembering just how amazing life really is and it helps me to appreciate all that I have.

It also helps me to recognize when maybe I haven't been adding in those simple little pleasures as often. When I start to notice my camera roll looking a little sparse or a bit lackluster I know that’s my cue to up my beauty game.

Take time to enjoy the little pleasures in life, take time to literally smell the roses because that's what life's about, it's about the little moments that make up our lives.

So what little pleasures can you add into your life now? How do you want to feel? What do you do to remind yourself of the beauty in your life? Leave a comment below I'd love to hear what delicious pleasures you've invited into your life.
